Last year's Redmi Pad Pro was quite impressive in its own right. Our review even described it as "far superior to its mid-range price." If that signaled that Android tablets were now reaching a solid performance baseline, this year's Xiaomi Redmi Pad 2 Pro proves that point.

The price remains roughly the same, but the upgrades in specifications translate directly into a better user experience. This tablet proves itself well suited for study, entertainment, and long-term use. Furthermore, Xiaomi has also designed it for productivity and creative use, especially with accessories like the Pro Keyboard and Smart Pen.

Pricing and Connectivity Options

The Redmi Pad 2 Pro starts at ₹24,999 (Wi-Fi variant), while the Wi-Fi + 5G model starts at ₹27,999. One good thing here is that Xiaomi has included a SIM card slot, meaning you'll get direct access to the mobile network on the tablet. Some brands (like OnePlus) use the concept of sharing data from your phone to your tablet, but for most users, the SIM slot method is easier and more reliable. If budget permits, I'd personally recommend the 5G variant—especially if you're traveling and don't want to bring a laptop with you.

Design and Build Quality

If there's one complaint, it's the thick black bezels surrounding the display. Nowadays, buyers expect slim bezels, and Xiaomi has fallen a bit short here. As for the finish, the Quick Silver color looks really nice, but it picks up fingerprints easily, and cleaning them is a bit laborious. A microfiber cloth is the best way to clean it.

Performance: The Fastest Redmi Pad Yet

When Xiaomi claims this is the fastest Redmi Pad ever, there's no doubt about it. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor makes this tablet handle heavy apps and multitasking with ease. Even without benchmarks, the significant performance boost is evident in everyday use.

Display and Multitasking Experience

  • 12.1-inch 2.5K Display
  • 120Hz Adaptive Refresh Rate
  • Dolby Vision Support

Xiaomi has included tablet-specific features like Floating Windows and Horizontal App Layout on such a large display, making multitasking really useful. The screen is bright and sharp, although reflections from ceiling lights can be a bit annoying in an office environment.

Battery Life and Charging Performance

  • This tablet features a powerful 12,000mAh battery. In mixed use (web browsing, reading, video streaming):
  • About 15 hours of screen time
  • That means battery life isn't just for a day or two, but for several days. This is a big plus during online classes, office work, or travel.
  • Charging and Reverse Charging
  • 33W fast charging—could have been faster
  • But with such a large battery, this is a compromise.
  • The key feature is 27W reverse charging, which makes this tablet a powerful power bank. It can even charge flagship phones like the iPhone 17 Pro Max, Galaxy S25 Ultra, and Pixel 10 Pro XL.

Software, AI, and Audio Experience

Google Gemini and Circle to Search are already built into HyperOS. These features can be useful for content summaries, studies, and productivity tasks. However, there's no free AI subscription bundle. Speaking of speakers, they're clearly better than their predecessor. The sound is loud and clear—especially for online classes, cricket, or football streaming.

Smart Pen and Keyboard: Who Should Buy Them?

  • Take notes
  • Drawing or designing Or just want to use the tablet as a work machine occasionally, the Smart Pen + Keyboard combo would be wise. However, the keyboard lacks a trackpad. You have to switch between the touchscreen and keyboard frequently. Xiaomi should address this in the future.

Should You Buy the Redmi Pad 2 Pro?

Redmi Pad 2 Pro Review

  • The Redmi Pad 2 Pro clearly demonstrates that mid-range Android tablets are no longer limited to just viewing content.
  • Features like improved performance, a great battery, 5G options, and reverse charging make it an all-around tablet.
  • Yes, the bezels are thick and the charging speed is average, but overall, it's a solid and sensible upgrade—especially if you take full advantage of its versatility with the Smart Pen and Keyboard.
