Peter Higgs: A God Particle Scientist Dies at the age of 94

Peter Higgs

“A Genius left the world and surrounded himself within the particles of the universe”

Peter Higgs is a physicist, whose astonishing findings about the universe, make him stand at the Luminaries of Physics Max Planck and Albert Einstein. He died on Tuesday at the age of 94, he died peacefully at his home in Edinburgh.

Higgs was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2013 for his seminal work in 1964. Peter Higgs did a revolutionary change in the Universe. Peter Higgs shocked scientists when he said that universe particle has mass.

We lost the most fathomable person in the field of Physics, who provided the base for the coming scientists to work on his endeavour.

Take a Look Back and See the Life Of Peter Higgs and His Work

Peter Higgs

The emerging physicist was born in New Castle of Tyne in 1929. He was brilliant since his childhood. His innovative thinking led him to win a prize in his school in Bristol for Chemistry.

He completed a Ph.D. at King’s College in London but he was unable to get a good job because he lost one of his friends. He then started to study at the University of Edinburgh and began working on his theory that the universe particle has mass.

Initially, due to the uniqueness of his theory, he was unable to find a place in the scientific journals but finally, it was published in 1964. The particle becomes known as the Higgs Boson particle.

He spent the rest of his life at Edinburgh University by continue doing research and he got retired in 2006. CERN Scientists began discovering the particle in 2006 but they finally reached that breakthrough discovery in the year 2012.

Cern conducted research and built the Larg Hedorn Collider at a cost huge cost of $10bn. The media gave a name to the Boson particle a “God particle”.

The Royal Swedish Academy announced later in life that he earned the Noble Prize in Physics in 2013. However, the Swedish academy could not connect to him because he didn’t have a mobile phone, his neighbor told him that he won the prestigious Nobel Prize.

Peter Higgs is not only recognized for his work but also famously known for his low-key profile lifestyle.
Prof. Peter Mathieson, an Edinburgh University professor said “ Peter Higgs was a remarkable individual – a truly gifted scientist whose vision and imagination have enriched our knowledge of the world that surrounds us.

“His pioneering work has motivated thousands of scientists, and his legacy will continue to inspire many more for generations to come.”

The Director General at CERN and the former leader of the Atlas experiment remembered him and said “ Besides his outstanding contributions to particle physics, Peter was a very special person, a man of rare modesty, a great teacher, and someone who explained physics in a very simple and profound way

“An important piece of Cern’s history and accomplishments is linked to him. I am very saddened, and I will miss him sorely.”
