Pathaan Row : Deepika Padukone’s buttocks shots and ‘side pose’ censored by CBFC

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has given the green light for the release of the Shah Rukh Khan - Deepika Padukone starrer Pathaan on January 25, 2022, with some major cuts. The list of changes, which was shared online, included modifications in relation to national security agencies, Russia, the PMO and the Besharam Rang song. In addition, the name of a gallantry award was also changed to a fictitious name.

Anger has been sparked due to Deepika Padukone's orange and green bikinis in the song, with a section of radical elements alleging that the movie makers had caused offense to religious sensibilities. Today, a group of protesters from the Bajrang Dal vandalized a mall in Ahmedabad, tearing down the posters of Pathaan.

The most notable alterations were the ones made to address the controversy over Besharam Rang; a close-up shot of buttocks and a side pose with partial nudity were replaced and visual depictions of sensuous dance movements were suitably curtailed.

Sidharth Anand helms the movie Pathaan, with John Abraham as the antagonist, and Salman Khan having an extended cameo as Avinash Singh Rathore from Tiger 3.
