Orange Alert In Chennai Amid Heavy Rainfall, Schools And Colleges Shut In 22 Districts

CM MK Stalin announced to close all schools and colleges due to heavy rainfall in Chennai and other parts of the state.

Tamil Nadu is facing one of the heaviest rainfalls since 2015 from Saturday i.e. 06th November. Non-stop rain has caused water-logging situations in most parts of the state. India Meteorological Department has warned that rain will continue for a few more days.

Chennai Rain News Update: Orange Alert In 14 Districts, 3 Subways Closed

An orange alert is thus announced in 14 districts of Tamil Nadu which includes major areas like Chennai, Vellore, and Villupuram. Chief Minister MK Stalin is keeping an eye on the entire situation and has announced the shutdown of all educational institutions. Vyasarpadi, Madley, and Ganeshpuram Subway are also closed due to waterlogging.

Meanwhile, community kitchens are set up by Chennai Corp to provide food to people stuck in affected areas.

Rescue and relief work has already started in the southern region of the state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has further assured of all kind of help to the people of Tamil Nadu.
