The entertainment industry often has many moments of glamour, yet other times, it produces moments that may call into question how that industry operates. Recently, actress Nidhi Agarwal became the center of attention for one of these moments.

A 30-40 second video that went viral on social media has caused shock among her fans and shock among those within the film industry. In the video, Nidhi was caught off guard by not only an uncomfortable situation as a celebrity but also by a troubling aspect of crowd behaviour.

Nidhi attended the music launch of her new film The Raja Saab with Prabhas in December 2018 in Hyderabad. While the launch was a wonderful event full of excitement inside the venue, it would lead to chaos when she exited the venue.

A mass of men began to surround her, with men thrusting their mobile phones in her face, pushing and shoving each other to get closer to her, and Nidhi trying her hardest to remain steady while being bombarded by people all around her.

How the Situation Worsen

Nidhi politely smiles as she comes out from the building and waves at her fans, as evidenced by a viral video. However, in a short time, things become frantic. In their desire to take pictures or make recordings of her, people begin to become aggressive in their attempts to invade her space. The level of protection surrounding the actress decreases dramatically, thus enabling the public to overwhelm her.

According to the viral video, Nidhi appears to be panicked because of being heavily surrounded by certain audience members toward her vehicle. Eventually, she gets into her car and she closes the door behind her, and takes a deep breath of relief upon doing so. Her look of fear and displeasure can easily be seen in the last frame.

Outrage on Social Media

After this video was posted to the internet, there was an avalanche of reaction across all social media platforms. There has been much outrage over this video, with many people believing it to be shameful, and questioning whether the fact that a woman is a 'star' means she no longer has any personal space in her life.

Furthermore, many people believe that just because someone is your fan does not give you permission to violate the dignity and safety of that person. Singers and other celebrities, including Chinmayi Sripada, have condemned the actions of the crowd, and stated that this type of behaviour shows complete disregard for human dignity.

Some users believed that the crowd consisted of fans of Prabhas, but this is unconfirmed at this time. The debatable issue is how any such thing could happen to a leading south Indian actress.

Nidhi Agarwal and the Truth About the Crowd

Nidhi Agarwal

Nidhi Agarwal's performance in a film named Munna Michael in 2017 marks her debut in the industry of Bollywood. Since then, she's developed a significant name in the Southern Film Industry, and there's a lot of pressure on her due to her growing appeal and the increasing expectations from both the audience and organizers. The incident highlighted the importance of safeguarding major events.

Additionally, this video is not just about Nidhi Agarwal. It illustrates the behaviour that occurs when people are in large crowds; people forget there is a person standing in front of them, who is as much a person as they are, and that she isn't an article.

A Crucial Question for fans

Nidhi Agarwal

The viral video of Nidhi Agarwal may ultimately disappear from the social media discussion; however, the question it raises about how we view our stars is one that is likely to linger. Have we lost sight of viewing individuals as humans? Is their responsibility simply to be part of a larger group? It has become apparent that respect and safety cannot solely be attributed to laws or the notoriety of celebrities, but are instead dependent on our state of mind.

Nidhi Agarwal's experience serves as a demonstration that we must provide an appropriate boundary to our fan behavior. In order to maintain our humanity prior to becoming a member of a crowd, a change in our mentality must take place.
