Netflix Under Trouble For "The Queen’s Gambit"

The popular streaming platform Netflix is in the soup for its series The Queen’s Gambit. A legal suit has been filed by Nona Gaprindashvili. The former World Champion claims that the last remark of the series was sexist and belittling.

Here’s the remark that brought a defamation case against Netflix.

Nona Seeks Hefty Amount As Compensation From Netflix

The dialogue continues like “The only unusual thing about her, really, is her sex. There’s Nona Gaprindashvili, but she’s the female world champion and has never faced men.”

Nona has played against more than 50 men in her entire career. She claimed the directors of The Queen’s Gambit tried to create a fictional hero. Furthermore, the show described her as Russian whereas Nona belongs to George.

All this controversy hurt her reputation for which seeking a lump-sum amount as compensation, she requested the court to ask Netflix to remove the statement.
