Why is Navratri 2025 celebrated?
There are two mythological beliefs behind celebrating the Navratri festival. According to a belief, there was a demon named Mahishasura who was a devotee of Brahma Ji and he pleased Brahma Ji with his rigorous penance, then Brahma Ji asked him to ask for a boon.

He asked for a boon that no god, demon, or human living on earth could kill him.
Since Mahishasura was a demon, after getting the boon, he started creating terror in all the three worlds, due to which the gods and goddesses, troubled by this, along with Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh, gave birth to Durga Maa in the form of Maa Shakti.
There was a continuous war between Maa Durga and the demon Mahishasura for nine days and on the tenth day, Maa Durga defeated Mahishasura and killed him. The festival of Navratri is celebrated for nine days as a victory of good over evil.
