Here are some unknown facts to know about Swami Vivekananda
- Originally named Narendranath Datta, Swami Vivekananda was born on the 12th day of January in 1863 in Calcutta.
- His mother’s devoted attitude towards God imbibed a deep perspective in young Narendra’s mind about religion.
- Besides religious and spiritual devotion, Narendranath was a keen reader and very sharp-minded. He could quote exactly word to word of every book he read. And his talent and knowledge in subjects like literature, history, philosophy, and social science was unmatchable.
- He got several names during his lifetime; one of them was Swami Vividishananda
Swami was accurate about his death and once said he would not survive more than 40 years. - He was a devoted disciple of Swami Ramakrishna Paramahamsa whom he met through trance. His mentor suggested students to meet Ramakrishna to understand the real meaning of this word
- Since childhood, he was very deeply connected to God but after graduation and not getting the job he lost the faith in God and said he does not exist.
- He died on 4 July 1902 while meditating. His disciples believed he had attained mahasamadhi
