Arrested Delhi ministers Manish Sisodia, Satyendar Jain resign from their posts

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and his cabinet colleague Satyendra Jain  have resigned from their posts.in the state cabinet on Tuesday. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has accepted their resignation.

The development comes two days after Dy Chief Minister Sisodia was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the Delhi excise policy case.

Sisodia was arrested on Sunday in an ongoing investigation case related to the alleged irregularities in implementation of Delhi government’s excise policy.

Manish Sisodia had moved to the Supreme Court today for the bail, but the Apex Court suggested that he should approach the High Court first.

“It cannot interfere in the matter as it may open the gate of people approaching the top court in every such matter”, the court remarked

Before the duo's resignation, the Delhi government had a total of six ministers. Sisodia handled 18 portfolios. Gopal Rai, Kailash Gahlot, Imran Hussain and Raj Kumar Anand are the other ministers in the Delhi government.
