KTM has issued a recall for some of its KTM 390 models and announced the immediate implementation of software updates for the 2025–2026 KTM 390 Adventure R, 390 Adventure X, 390 Enduro R, 390 SMC R, and 2024–2026 KTM 390 Duke. This recall applies to all international markets, including India. Some of these KTM 390 models have been found to be affected by engine stalling, a sudden engine shutdown issue. This issue was also highlighted during a review of the 2025 K T M 390 Adventure X a few months ago.

According to KTM, extensive quality testing has revealed a condition where, in rare cases, the engine may stall at low RPMs. While such instances are rare, KTM has taken this step to maintain high standards of performance and safety.

The ECU (Engine Control Unit) of all affected motorcycles will be updated. KTM says that this update will significantly reduce engine stalling, increase engine stability during low speeds or deceleration, and improve low-end torque. Overall, the riding experience will become smoother and more reliable.
What KTM 390 Owners Should Do Next
Affected bike owners are being notified by letter. The company has requested owners to contact their nearest authorized KTM dealer to receive this free software update.
