Karnataka Bus-Truck Crash: PM Announces Financial Aid for Victims

 The collision occurred near Hiriyur when the bus was covering a 300-km journey from Bengaluru to Shivamogga. The truck came from the opposite direction from the bus and, unconsciously, hit the divider, and was crushed by the bus. While passengers were sleeping, it happened around 2 am. 

 What happened after the truck and bus crashes? 

After the unexpectedness of the truck and bus crash incident happened the bus caught fire, completely covered, surrounded, or swallowed up, often suddenly or forcefully. It was a luxury private bus containing 32 passengers, and five were burnt alive in a highway tragedy. 

Bus driver's explanation about the accident: - 

Rafiq, the bus driver, said that  I was maintaining the speed of 60-70 km/h at that time. From his opposite direction of the bus, the truck was speeding and hit the divider. I only know that the truck hit the bus. he has no clue about what happened after that and how he was rescued. Rafiq said he tried to control his vehicle on seeing the speeding truck, but couldn’t. 

I tried to control the bus, seeing the vehicle approaching from the opposite direction. My bus even touched a nearby vehicle before this incident happened, but I couldn’t control it (driver added). 

 Reanalysing the moment beside the bus driver the Mohammed Sadiq, the cleaner of the bus, also noted that the truck directly crushed the bus's diesel tank without even handling the situation by the driver. 

During the impact, Sadiq was thrown out of the bus, by broken glass and fell outside as fire engulfed the massive structure of the luxury bus. Now Sadiq and the bus driver are both under treatment and recovering from their injuries. 

What happened after the incident took place? 

The incident left five people burnt alive. People are screaming because there was a fire all around them. The doors of the bus are jammed, and passengers escaped from the windows. The impact of the crush on the diesel tank might have led to a leak, which was the major reason for the excessive fire. The few passengers manage to escape the fire. people tried to help each other but couldn’t. 

 Decision taken by the ministers about the accident: - 

The chief minister Siddaramaiah has ordered an investigation into the incident. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that he was very saddened about this accident and announced the financial support for the injured 50000, and for victim's families 2 lakh.
