When and where will the IPL 2026 Mini Auction take place?
The IPL2026 auction will take place in Abu Dhabi on December 16. It will begin at 2:30 pm IST. This is a mini-auction for the IPL.
What does a mini-auction mean, and why is it happening?
The IPL's mega auction takes place every three years. On the other hand, mini-auctions occur in the two years between the mega auctions. For example, if the IPL 2025 mega auction was held, then mini-auctions will be held in the 2026 and 2027 IPL seasons. In a mega auction, teams can retain only six players and must buy the remaining players. This is not the case with a mini-auction. Here, more players are retained, and only a few are bought, depending on the need.
