The IPL 2026 mini auction will be held in Abu Dhabi on December 16th. This will be the third consecutive year that the IPL auction will be held abroad. The 2024 auction in Dubai was the first time the auction was held abroad. The two-day mega auction for the 2025 season was also held in Jeddah, Dubai.
The mini auction for the 2026 season will be a single day. Before participating in the auction, franchises must submit a list of their retained and released players to the BCCI by 3 pm on November 15th. Following this, a registered pool of players will be sent to them for shortlisting. Players will then be shortlisted from that list to finalize the IPL auction pool.

It is worth noting that four confirmed trades have already taken place between the five teams. This included the most high-profile player swap in IPL history, with five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) acquiring Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson from Rajasthan Royals, while Rajasthan Royals acquired the all-rounder duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran.
Mumbai Trades Two Players
On Thursday, five-time champions Mumbai Indians acquired Indian all-rounders Shardul Thakur and Sherfane Rutherford from Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Gujarat Titans (GT) for ₹2 crore and ₹2.60 crore in cash, respectively. In a separate deal, LSG acquired Arjun Tendulkar from the Mumbai Indians for his base price of ₹30 lakh.
