The eyes of cricket fans are now on the Indian Premier League (IPL). Fans are now curious to know when and where the mini auction of players in IPL will be held before the start of IPL 2024.

It is worth noting that Lok Sabha elections will also be organized in the country next year, in view of which some changes can be made in the organization of IPL, although no official announcement has been made in this regard yet.

IPL 2024: Auction Buzz

People started talking about the IPL during the 2023 World Cup, and now, as the auction day gets closer, more news about the IPL is coming out. In the whole month, only four big updates about IPL 2024 have been shared. These updates are about three players transferring to Ben Stokes and Gautam Gambhir.

The auction for IPL 2024 is set to take place in Dubai on December 19. Before that, all 10 teams have to decide and share their lists of players they want to keep by November 26. So, by November 26, we’ll find out which players teams are keeping and which ones they are letting go. The released players will join the IPL 2024 auction along with some new players.

What has happened till now?

On November 23, Ben Stokes opted out of IPL 2024, citing fitness and workload concerns. Despite being part of CSK’s squad in IPL 2023, CSK has not released him, giving them the option to retain him in the IPL 2025 auction. If CSK decides to release Stokes, they will have Rs 16.25 crore available in the December auction.

On November 22, a trade occurred between Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants. Rajasthan Royals exchanged their batsman Devdutt Padikkal (Rs 7.75 crore), and Lucknow Super Giants traded their bowler Avesh Khan (Rs 10 crore). This means Avesh Khan will now play for Royals, and Devdutt Padikkal will be part of the Giants’ team.

On November 22, Gautam Gambhir, who was the mentor of Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2023, will now take on the role of mentor for Kolkata Knight Riders in 2024. Gambhir previously led KKR to victory in the IPL as captain in 2012 and 2014.

On November 3, Lucknow Super Giants began their preparations for the IPL 2024 auction by initiating a trade. They traded Romario Shepherd to Mumbai Indians.
