After vigorous investigation and inspection, the senior tech columnist for The Wall Street Journal, Joanna Stern stated that for iPhone robberies, Apple ID erasures, and voided bank accounts, thieves just need a four-digit pin of your phone to void out the data.
How to protect your iPhone?
Step 1: Go to Settings and Click on the “Face ID and Password” option
Firstly, go to the settings and click the “Face ID & Password” option from the menubar. Now, select “Change Passcode.” You will be asked to enter the old passcode before creating the new one.
Step 2: Create a new password
A six-digit password is not easy to memorize as compared to a four-digit one. But, it is recommended to take things a step ahead by using an alphanumeric password.
Go to the “Passcode options” and choose “Custom Alphanumeric Code.”
If you want more security, then choose a word or phrase that is harder to recognize at first look.
I know it is harder for you as well to type “imsmarterthanthief” every time you have to open your phone, but if it is an effort for you, it might be more difficult for the thief.
Step 3: Bottom line
It is noteworthy that, your iPhone’s biometric security measure (Face Unlock or Touch Unlock) should be a default method of unlocking.

If it is a need to unlock the phone with the help of an alphanumeric code, you should be sure that you do it privately, protecting it from snoopy eyes. And if you are not remembering a more complicated password, maybe it’s time to go home.
