The app will come with safety prompts to inform teen users whenever any adult user of Instagram tries to text them. The feature will restrict users with suspicious behavior as noticed by Instagram’s moderation system.
However, there are no details or information on how these systems will monitor or identify the suspicious behavior of users. But, one such way could be observing similar messaging behavior or sending frequent friend requests to too many users who are aged below 18.
The app will send prompt messages to the teen users and warn them to be careful while sharing their details, videos, and photos with unknown users. They will also be given the option to block such unknown users or report them. On the other end, adult users will not see the option of DM while texting teen users who are not following them back.
App Will Use AI and Machine Learning To Detect Age

Although there are already such security features on Instagram this particular attempt will provide additional protection to teen users. In addition to this, the social media giant is also working on new-age technologies like machine learning and AI to make age detection easier.
