This was India's first indigenously designed and built satellite. Our scientists now possessed active technological experience in building and operating a satellite system.
Launch Date: 19 April 1975
Bhaskara Saga-I
It was the first operational multipurpose communication and meteorological satellite. INSAT 1A was launched on 10 April 1982 and it served for six months. Later it was redesigned and launched on 01 June 1983 and this time the satellite served for more than its design period (served for seven years). Later INSAT-2 series was launched as a revised and enhanced version of the INSAT-1 series.
