Release and Permission to Play Ranji Trophy
The Indian team management has decided to release Mukesh Kumar from the squad for the upcoming Test match against England. Instead, Mukesh has been granted permission to play for his Ranji Trophy team, Bengal, in their next match against Bihar on Friday. He will rejoin the Indian team for the fourth Test scheduled to be played in Ranchi starting from February 23.

In a statement, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCI) confirmed Mukesh Kumar’s release from the Indian squad for the third Test. They mentioned that Mukesh would participate in Bengal’s Ranji Trophy match before rejoining Team India for the fourth Test.
Performance in Previous Test
Mukesh Kumar’s performance in the second Test in Vishakhapatnam was underwhelming. Facing the English batsmen, he struggled to make an impact, bowling the fewest overs among the Indian bowlers. Despite managing to take a wicket in the second innings, his overall performance was not up to expectations.

In the ongoing Test series between India and England, captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat first in the third Test. The team made four changes, including the exclusion of Mukesh Kumar. Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Siraj have been brought back into the playing eleven.
