Breaking News: India Not Resuming International Flights From Dec 15

No commercial international flights will be resuming seeing the current global situation as the cases of the Omicron covid variant are rising. DGCA reviewed the decision

Once again, no commercial international flights will be operational seeing the current global situation amid the rise of the Omicron covid variant. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has reviewed the decision to resume flights for foreign passengers from 15 December 2021.

The official circular reads “in view of the merging global scenario…the situation is being watched closely in consultation with all stakeholders and an appropriate decision indicating the effective date of resumption of scheduled commercial international passenger services shall be notified in due course.”

Officials have further said that India will continue the ‘air bubble’ system until it is safe to do so. New rules for passengers arriving in the country are also proposed.

Travelers arriving from countries mentioned in the ‘risk list’ will be checked strictly. India has put 11 countries, the UK and Europe under the red list. These nations are Botswana, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Israel, China, Mauritius, and Singapore.

Maharashtra has also made RT-PCR report compulsory for domestic fliers. So far India has not reported any cases of the Omicron covid variant.
