However, Axar Patel (2/20) and Shivam Dube (2/20) provided crucial blows in the middle order, slowing the Australian team's momentum. Axar dealt the team two early blows by dismissing opener Matthew Short (25) and number three Josh Inglis (12). However, Dube then took the two biggest wickets, dismissing Australian captain Mitchell Marsh (30) and then explosive batsman Tim David (14) cheaply.
After this, Australia's comeback became increasingly difficult. Australia lost their fourth wicket in the form of David in the 12th over at the score of 91. Subsequently, the remaining six wickets fell within the next 28 runs, leaving the team all out for just 119 runs in 18.2 overs. Finally, Washington Sundar played a key role in wrapping up the Australian innings quickly by taking 3 wickets for 3 runs in just 8 balls.
