Hyundai Makes Autonomous Robot For Charging EVs

Hyundai

We were well aware of the day when robots will take the place of petrol pump assistants. The day came when the self-service supermarket asked the driver to come out and do it for themselves.

But, at this time, Hyundai has made an automatic charging robot for EVs, reducing the work of EV drivers.

The Automatic Charging Robot

Hyundai has referred to them as an automatic charging robot. The robot comes on a four-wheeled bed, goes towards the car, takes out the charge port door, and plugs the cable in to charge the car.

After the charge is finished, the ACR takes out the cable and closes the port door.

Made to function loyally in every environment, adding dusty, wet, and dry ones. The robot works on a 3D camera-based technology, styled with an artificial intelligence algorithm.

Technology helps in reaching cars and recognizes the port location as well as the socket location to plug the cable in the right place.

The ACR will provide aid to overcome availability problems. Also, the cables are thicker to provide fast charging, and we all struggle to hold the things.

The robotics lab chief for Hyundai Motor Group, Dong Jin Hyun stated: “The robot will aid to create EV-charging swifter and easy, particularly in dark environments.

It will also enhance availability, especially for the person having mobility barriers, as charging cables becomes thicker it is heavier to permit high-speed charging.”

“We will carry on making the ACR enhanced and easier so that every EV client can soon be benefited from using it at charging stations.”

Hyundai Robot: A Boon

EV charging can be difficult for newcomers, especially at the time of travel. The automaker says its solution will include more effectiveness in the charging process; it must be a blessing to EV possessors having disabilities living over the world where EV chargers are self-service most of the time.

Similar to the other novel charging solutions, it will have to be executed at a broad scale to make an influence.

With the passing of time, EV batteries are getting larger, involving swifter charging speeds. Bigger-voltage charging systems use thicker and heavier charging cables which is completely good for every purpose-built robotic arm of the ACR.

One more interesting thing is that, if someone wishes to break the charging process, for instance, someone trying to take a shortcut while charging, the robot will alert the person with an audible warning, displaying the LEDs bright orange to ward off the potential breaker.
