Hyundai has made a smart, owner-friendly move with the Hyundai Creta Electric and it’s the kind of update EV buyers keep asking for but rarely get. Without any big announcement or flashy event, Hyundai has quietly rolled out a software update that improves two things that actually matter in everyday electric car ownership: range and charging speed.
No design tweaks. No new hardware. Just better numbers where it counts.
And yes, existing owners benefit too.
Hyundai Creta Electric Improved Range
Let’s start with the facts. Hyundai has revised the claimed driving range figures for both battery options of the Hyundai Creta Electric.
- 42 kWh battery: Now rated at 420 km, up from 390 km
- 51.4 kWh battery: Now rated at 510 km, up from 473 km
That’s a gain of 30 km and 37 km respectively, achieved purely through software optimisation. Hyundai says updated battery management and drivetrain tuning have improved energy efficiency.
Real-world range will still depend on traffic, speed, weather and driving style. But even if you see 350–380 km in daily use from the long-range version, that’s a meaningful improvement. On paper, it finally puts the Creta Electric closer to its main rivals, which matters more than we like to admit.

Hyundai Creta Electric 100kW Fast Charging
This is the bigger story.
Earlier, the Hyundai Creta Electric supported only 50 kW DC fast charging. A 10 to 80 percent charge took around 58 minutes, which is acceptable but hardly exciting in 2026.
With the new update, the Creta Electric now supports 100 kW DC fast charging, bringing the 10 to 80 percent charging time down to 39 minutes.
That 19-minute difference is massive on highways. It’s the gap between a planned lunch break and an annoying wait you didn’t sign up for.
Early owner tests are encouraging. A 42 kWh Creta Electric plugged into a high-capacity charger reportedly peaked at around 56 kW, up from earlier real-world peaks of 36–47 kW. It may not hit the full 100 kW consistently, but the charging curve is clearly faster and more stable.
In real life, that’s what counts.

Hyundai Creta Electric Software-Only Upgrades
What makes this update impressive is that there’s no hardware change involved. Hyundai has tweaked the Vehicle Control Unit and Battery Management System through software.
In simple terms, the capability was already there. Hyundai just chose to unlock it now, after validation.
This is exactly how EV ownership should evolve. Smarter software. Better performance. No extra cost to loyal customers.
Updates are being rolled out in phases via OTA updates and service centres across India.

Hyundai Creta Electric variants and pricing
Everything else stays familiar.
- 42 kWh version: 135 PS motor
- 51.4 kWh long-range version: 171 PS motor
Both use liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery packs mounted under the floor
Prices continue to range from ₹18.02 lakh for the base Executive variant to ₹23.96 lakh for the Excellence Long Range model (ex-showroom). Hyundai also offers an 11 kW home charger for ₹70,000.
Features like Level 2 ADAS, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, V2L functionality and dual 10.25-inch screens remain unchanged.

Is Hyundai Creta Electric Better Now?
With this update, the Hyundai Creta Electric finally feels complete. A claimed 510 km range, faster DC charging and a familiar Creta package make it far easier to recommend.
Against rivals like the Tata Nexon EV Long Range and MG ZS EV, the Creta now has stronger headline numbers and a clear charging advantage, if you can access 100 kW chargers.
The real win, though, is Hyundai rewarding existing owners instead of pushing them to buy a “new improved” model.
That’s good EV citizenship. And more brands need to learn from it.
