Honor is clearly not in the mood to stay quiet ahead of its next big launch. Just days before the official unveiling, the company has confirmed several key details about the Honor Magic 8 Pro Air, while also teasing a headline-grabbing external lens accessory for the ultra-premium Magic 8 RSR Porsche Design.

Both phones are set to launch in China on January 19, and if these early confirmations are anything to go by, Honor is aiming straight at camera-focused flagship buyers, with zero subtlety.

Honor Magic 8 Pro Air Launch Details

The Honor Magic 8 Pro Air will debut alongside the ultra-premium Magic 8 RSR Porsche Design model. While the RSR grabs headlines with accessories and branding, the Pro Air feels like the phone real users will want.

Honor is positioning it as a compact flagship, just 6.1mm thick and weighing 155g. That alone makes it stand out in 2026, where most high-end phones feel like bricks in your pocket.

It will ship with Android 16 out of the box, layered with MagicOS 10, signaling Honor’s confidence in long-term software relevance.

Design is where the Honor Magic 8 Pro Air quietly flexes.

You will get the following:

  • A 6.3-inch OLED display
  • 120Hz refresh rate
  • 1 billion colors with HDR support
  • 1200 × 2640 resolution (~460ppi)

All this in a body that’s slimmer than most mid-range phones. That’s impressive engineering, no matter how you slice it.

Color options include the following:

  • Shadow Black
  • Feather White
  • Fairy Purple
  • Light Orange

It’s clean, modern, and refreshingly not overdesigned.

This is where Honor surprised everyone.

Despite the slim body, the Honor Magic 8 Pro Air packs a 5,500mAh Qinghai Lake silicon-carbon battery with an energy density of 917Wh/L.

Charging specs are listed here:

  • 80W wired fast charging
  • 5W reverse wired charging

This phone should last longer than you’d expect from something this thin.

Honor Magic 8 Pro Air Performance

On the performance side, the device is expected to run on the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset. That’s an interesting choice. MediaTek’s recent flagship chips have been strong, efficient, and less prone to overheating, a smart move for a slim phone where thermal management matters.

RAM and storage options are generous:

  • 12GB + 256GB
  • 12GB + 512GB
  • 16GB + 512GB
  • 16GB + 1TB

This clearly isn’t a “lite” flagship in disguise.

Honor Magic 8 Pro Air Camera Focus

Cameras are where Honor is pushing hardest.

The Honor Magic 8 Pro Air has the following:

  • 50MP main camera with a large 1/1.3-inch sensor
  • 64MP periscope telephoto with 3.2x optical zoom
  • 50MP ultra-wide camera
  • 50MP selfie camera with 4K video support

Video capabilities go up to 4K at 120fps, with OIS, gyro-EIS, and 10-bit HDR. That’s flagship-level, full stop.

Honor is also advertising AI-powered zoom lighting and advanced portrait coverage, suggesting this phone is tuned for real-world photography, not just spec-sheet flexing.

From early teasers and hands-on images shared in China, the camera bump looks minimal, another win for those who hate wobbling phones on tables.

Honor Magic 8 Pro Air vs Magic 8 RSR Porsche Design

While the Honor Magic 8 Pro Air targets slim-phone fans, the Magic 8 RSR Porsche Design is going all-in on luxury and photography power.

Honor has confirmed that the RSR Porsche Design model will ship with a dedicated camera kit, which include the following:

  • An external telephoto extender (2.35x)
  • A camera grip
  • CIPA 6.5-level image stabilisation support

This places Honor directly against phones like the Vivo X300 Pro, Xiaomi 15 Ultra, and Oppo Find X9 Pro, all of which already support external camera lenses.

The Magic 8 RSR Porsche Design will be available in Moonstone and Slate colours and offer up to 24GB RAM. It’s expected to run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, making it Honor’s true performance monster.

Final Take on Honor Magic 8 Pro Air

The Honor Magic 8 Pro Air looks like the most interesting phone for most people. It’s slim, light, powerful, and camera-focused without going full “experimental.” Honor seems to have learned that users want premium features without carrying a pocket weight.

The Magic 8 RSR Porsche Design is flashy and exciting, but clearly niche. The Pro Air, on the other hand, feels like a phone many users could actually live with every day, and enjoy.

If Honor prices this aggressively, it could become one of 2026’s most talked-about compact flagships. January 19 can’t come soon enough.
