This year, Guru Purnima will be observed on July 21. Guru Purnima falls on Sunday this year.

Shubh Muhurat

The Purnima Tithi, as stated by Drik Panchang, will begin at 5:59 p.m. on July 20 and end at 3:46 p.m. on July 21. Vyasa Purnima is another name for Guru Purnima. On Veda Vyasa's birthday, which is also celebrated as a character in the Hindu epic Mahabharata, Vyasa Purnima is observed.

Rituals and Significance Of Guru Purnima

• On Guru Purnima, Gautam Buddha is said to have given the first speech to his first five followers and established the sangha or community of disciples.
• On this day, Hindus perform their morning puja in front of the Maha Guru.
• The Maha Guru is honored and remembered through the recitation of the Maha Gita.
• On this auspicious day, parts of the ritual include giving flowers, gifts, prasad, and charanamritha.
• Sandal pujas are performed on this day at ashrams dedicated to Veda Vyasa.

This day is also dedicated to the Guru Bhai or the fellow disciples and devotes express their solidarity towards each other in their journey towards spiritualism. This day is spent by disciples on introspection of their individual spiritual journeys so far.
