The passing of beloved guitarist and British rock star Jeff Beck, who rose to fame with 1960s band The Yardbirds and had a successful solo career, was announced on Wednesday. Reports state that Beck passed away peacefully due to a medical ailment at the age of 78. He was renowned for his guitar virtuosity and mastery of rhythm and blues.

The legendary Jeff Beck is no longer with us, and his loss is felt deeply by those he touched with his music. The Yardbirds bandmate and close friend of Beck, Jimmy Page, expressed his sorrow on Instagram, saying “The six stringed Warrior is no longer here for us to admire the spell he could weave around our mortal emotions. Jeff could channel music from the ethereal. His technique unique. His imaginations apparently limitless. Jeff I will miss you along with your millions of fans.” Paul Young tweeted “He was loved by everyone in the know; the guitarists guitarist!” and Bill Burr tweeted “Rest in peace to the GREATEST of them all: Jeff Beck!!!”

Mick Jagger, English singer and songwriter, tweeted that with the passing of Jeff Beck, “we have lost a wonderful man and one of the greatest guitar players in the world. We will all miss him so much.” Tony Iommi, Black Sabbath guitarist, added that Jeff was “such a nice person and an outstanding iconic, genius guitar player” and that “there will never be another Jeff Beck. His playing was very special and distinctively brilliant.” Dave Davies, Kinks guitarist, expressed his shock and sorrow on Twitter, saying, “I’m heartbroken he looked in fine shape to me. Playing great he was in great shape. I’m shocked and bewildered…. He was a good friend and a great guitar player.”

Rod Stewart expressed his admiration for Jeff Beck in a statement, saying that Beck had taken him and Ronnie Wood to the United States in the late 1960s as part of his band, and that the guitarist had the unique ability to listen to the singer while performing live. Gene Simmons of Kiss encouraged fans to get the first two albums of the Jeff Beck Group, calling Beck “unparalleled” in his playing. Paul Stanley of Kiss shared his tribute to Beck on Instagram, noting that the guitarist had created a “trail impossible to follow”.
