Google Just Upgraded Meet – Here’s What You Need to Know

In October of last year, Google Meet users gained the ability to present their Google Slides directly within the platform, providing them with a single screen to interact with their audience. Now, they will be able to view their speaker notes while in Google Meet as well.

Here’s how speaker notes feature will work

While presenting a slide on Google Meet users can click on the new speaker notes button located in the Slides controls bar to display speaker notes within the call.

This will help presenters showcase their content with confidence and engage with their audience without having to switch between notes and slides.

Google has stated that this feature has no administrative control and cannot be used by those with personal Google Accounts, Google Workspace Essentials, Business Starter, Education Fundamentals, Frontline, or legacy G Suite Basic and Business customers.

Availability

Customers with Google Workspace Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Standard, Education Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Plus, the Teaching and Learning Upgrade, or Nonprofits can access the “Present a Tab” feature in Google Meet. To do so, they must select “Present a Tab” in Meet and then choose a Google Slide presentation. Finally, they must click the speaker notes button in the controls at the bottom corner of the presentation.

Google apps are now optimised for foldable phones, tablets

At the Google I/O event, Google revealed the optimisation of its popular workplace apps, including Google Docs, Sheets and Slides, for use on tablets and foldable phones.

Additionally, the company showcased an easy drag and drop feature, allowing users to transfer texts and images from Google Slides to other Android applications.

The updates will be applied to over 20 Google apps in total.
