According to a new report, Gautam Gambhir will be officially announced as his replacement by the end of June, with Rahul Dravid's tenure as head coach of the Indian men's cricket team set to end after the 2024 T20 World Cup, where the team qualified for the Super Eight round after going unbeaten in the group stage.

It further adds that Gambhir, who will sign an agreement with the BCCI for the rest of the 2027 ODI World Cup, will pick his own care staff individuals.

Late last month, reports clearly suggested that Gambhir would be appointed as India's next head coach. As a result, the debate over who will take over for Dravid has largely settled down. The previous World Cup champ, who has been instrumental in directing Kolkata Knight Riders to their third IPL title win this season as a coach, was spotted having an extensive visit with BCCI secretary Jay Shah uninvolved of the association in Chennai last month.

Gautam Gambhir Quite Interested In Coach's Position

Even though Gautam Gambhir had to choose between returning to KKR before the start of 2024 on the insistence of franchise co-owner Shah Rukh Khan, who reportedly wanted him to take over the reins for the next ten years, and taking up the India position, the former India opener appeared to be quite interested.

Gautam Gambhir Will Choose his Own Staff

On Sunday, a report in Dainik Jagran implied that Gambhir and the board has proactively had a conversation over his declaration date, as uncovered by a BCCI source, which generally relies upon India's mission in the continuous T20 World Cup. In addition, Gambhir informed the board that he would like to select his own support staff. Right now, Vikram Rathour is the batting mentor, Paras Mhambrey is the bowling trainer and T Dilip is the handling mentor.

All Staff Will Be Changed

Outstandingly, When Shastri was named lead trainer, Rathour supplanted Sanjay Bangar as the batting mentor. Rathour remained in charge when Dravid took over for Shastri, but Mhambrey and Dilip were only chosen at his request for their respective roles. The Indian team's support staff will undergo significant changes once Gambhir takes over as coach, including the possibility of Rathour, Mhambrey, and Dilip being replaced.
