Ganesh Sthapna Vidhi 2023: During Ganesh Chaturthi Puja, Lord Ganesha is worshiped with complete sixteen rituals along with chanting of mythological mantras, which is also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi Puja. Worshiping the Gods and Goddesses with all the 16 rituals is known as Shodashopachara Puja (शोदशोपचार पूजा). Although Ganesh puja can be done during the morning, afternoon, and evening, during Ganesh Chaturthi puja, mid-day is preferred.

During Ganesh Chaturthi Puja, Lord Ganesha is worshiped with complete sixteen rituals along with chanting of mythological mantras, which is also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi Puja. The time of midday puja for Ganesh puja can be known as Ganesh Chaturthi puja muhurat. All the rituals prescribed during Ganesha Puja are given below and also include the sixteen steps that are prescribed in Shodashopachara Puja. The lighting of the lamp (Deep-Prajjwalan) and resolution (Sankalpa) are done before starting the puja and both of these are not part of the original sixteen steps of the Shodashopachara puja.
If Lord Ganesha is installed in your house and he is worshiped daily then Avahan and Pratishthan should be skipped as both these rituals are performed for newly purchased idols of Lord Ganesha made of clay or metal. It should be noted that the immersion of the idol of Lord Ganesha already installed at home is not done, but the hoisting is done at the end of the puja.
Auspicious time for establishment:
According to Drik Panchang, the auspicious time of Ganesh Sthapana will be from 11:01 a.m. to 1:43 p.m. The auspicious time to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi will start at 02:09 pm on 18th September and end at 03:13 pm on 19th September. Chaturthi date is from 12:39 pm on 18th September to 1:43 pm on 19th September.
Ganesh Chaturthi 2023 Rules:
Devotees should keep some rules in mind while celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi. Read on to know them.
1) Devotees should thoroughly clean the puja area and their house before Ganesh Sthapana on the day of Ganesh Chaturthi.
2) One can decorate the puja place inside their home with flowers, rangoli, and traditional decorations.
3) Devotees should take the idol of Lord Ganesha home for 1, 3, 7, or 10 days and keep it on a clean, decorated platform.
4) 7) The auspicious direction while installing the idol of Lord Ganesha is East, West or North East.
5) While placing the idol of Lord Ganesha, keep in mind that his trunk should not be on the right side. This reflects his stubborn attitude or indicates difficult times. The trunk should always be placed on the left side – which represents success and positivity.
