The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated with great pomp across the country. This festival is an occasion to worship Lord Ganesha, who is considered the most sacred for the beginning of any new work. Ganesh Chaturthi is especially celebrated in Maharashtra and Gujarat. In this 10-day festival, special worship of Ganpati Bappa is done. Ganesh ji is installed in homes, pandals, and temples for 10 days. After this, Ganpati immersion is done on the 10th day, i.e., on Anant Chaturdashi.

According to religious beliefs, installing and worshiping Vighnaharta Ganesh in the house during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival removes all obstacles in life and completes incomplete tasks. After worshiping for 10 days, the idol is immersed, wishing Ganpati Bappa to come early next year.

Spiritual significance of Ganesh Chaturthi

Ganesh Chaturthi is the celebration of Lord Ganesha's descent on earth. According to Hindu mythology, Goddess Parvati created Ganesha from sandalwood paste and gave him life. Later Ganesha received the blessings of all the gods, including Lord Shiva, and attained the status of the first worshipped among all the gods. It is believed that this festival removes negativity, brings new beginnings and blesses devotees with success, prosperity and wisdom.

When is Ganpati Utsav in 2025?

According to the Panchang, the celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi in the year 2025 will start from 27 August and will continue for 10 days. Over the next 10 days, the idol of Ganesha is installed in every house and worshipped. Then Ganpati Visarjan will take place on 6 September 2025. Anant Chaturdashi also falls on this day, marking the conclusion of Ganesh Utsav.

Ganpati Sthapana 2025 Shubh Muhurat

The celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi will start from 27 August and on this day, the midday period is considered most suitable for the installation of Ganesha. It is believed that he was incarnated at this time. In such a situation, the auspicious time for Ganpati installation on 27 August 2025 will be from 11:05 am to 1:40 pm on 27 August.

Ganesh Sthapana Puja Vidhi

• Before installing Ganesha in the house, clean the place of worship thoroughly and decorate it with flowers, rangoli and decorative material.
• In the auspicious time, install the idol of Ganpati Bappa on the altar covered with red or yellow cloth.
• Before starting the puja, take a vow of fasting with water, rice and flowers in hand.
• Invoke Ganesha by chanting the mantra 'Om Gan Ganpataye Namah'.
• After this, give Panchamrit bath to his idol and dress him in new clothes and jewelry.
• Offer modaks and laddus to the Lord, as well as offer durva, vermilion and red flowers.
• Finally, perform the aarti of Lord Ganesha with the entire family and pray for happiness and prosperity.
