The world has recently lost one of the greatest drummers in history, Dino Danelli. He is best known for his work with the 1960s rock band The Young Rascals.

On 15th December, his friend and Rascals activist Russo confirmed his death. He wrote, “the drummer who manned the kit for the Rascals from 1965 to 1971 has been taken from us.”

Dino Danelli was born in Newark, New Jersey in 1944. He began playing the drums at an early age and by the time he was in his teens, he was already a professional musician.

The drummer played with a number of bands in the New York area before joining The Young Rascals in 1965.

The Young Rascals were one of the most popular bands of the 1960s. They had a string of hit singles, including “Good Lovin’”, “Groovin’”, and “People Got to Be Free”. The band was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.

Dino Danelli was an incredible drummer and a true pioneer of rock & roll. He will be dearly missed by fans all over the world. He died on Thursday at the age of 78. The cause of death was not immediately known.

Dino’s friend and Young Rascals partner Russo shared a note about his character. He said, “To know Dino, you must understand that art was his life.”

“Art, music and film consumed his mind and his heart. He was an insomniac, sometimes staying awake for days, because he was always writing, reading, painting, drawing, and watching films.”

“He was beyond private and for someone who many consider one of the greatest drummers of all time, humble to a fault.”
