CWG 2022, Day 5 is a remarkable day for the Indian team. The rhythm of our National Anthem was echoing in Birmingham. Women’s lawn bowls four team won gold today and made history by winning first ever gold medal in Commonwealth games.

The men’s table tennis team of India defeated the Singapore team and added another gold to the Indian medals tally.

Now India included a total of 13 medals in their list with five gold, five silver, and three bronze. India is placed 6th in the Commonwealth Games 2022 medals tally.

Indian Men’s Table Tennis Team won Gold in CWGs 2022

Indian Men’s Table Tennis Team brings gold to our country.

They defeated Singapore 3-1 in the finals.

Indian duo G.Sathiyan and Harmeet Desai won men’s doubles match in their respective single matches.

But unfortunately, star player Sharath Kamal lost his singles match against Singaporean Clarence Chew in the finals.

It is Gnanasekaran and Harmeet Desai’s win that lead India to win against Singapore.

It is India Men’s Table Tennis’s third gold in CWG 2022, earlier they won the medal in 2010 and 2018.

Indian Women’s Lawn Bowls Four Team won Gold in Birmingham CWGs 2022

For the first time in the history of the Commonwealth Games India won a gold medal in the Women’s Lawn Bowls.

Indian super four Rupa Rani Tirkey, Lovely Choubey, Pinki, and Nayanmoni Saikia made this historic feat possible by defeating South Africa 17-10 in the finals.

Vikas Thakur Won Silver in Weightlifting Men’s 96kg Category –

Indian heavyweight lifter Vikas Thakur won silver after lifting a total of 346kg in the men’s 96kg category in Birmingham.

It is his third medal in the commonwealth games. He won silver in Glasgow CWGs 2014 and bronze in 2018 Gold Coast CWGs.

Vikas Thakur in an interview said “I’m very happy to have won my third CWG medal. Today also happens to be my mom’s (Asha Devi Thakur’s) birthday. I want to dedicate this medal to her.”

Samoan Don Opeloge clinched gold after lifting 381kg.

Indian Badminton Mixed Team won Silver in CWG 2022

Indian Badminton Mixed clad won silver in Birmingham CWGs 2022.

They lost against the Malaysia team 3-1 in the finals.

Although PV Sindhu won women’s singles against Malaysian Goh Jin Wei 22-20, 21-17.

But Kidambi Srikanth was unable to show his powerful performance against Malaysian Tze Yong Ng and lost the match 19-21, 21-6, and 16-21 in the men’s singles match.

In the men’s doubles match duo Satwik Sairaj Rankireddy/ Chirag Shetty lost 18-21, 15-21 to Teng Fong Aaron Chia/ Wooi Yik Soh.

Indian Women’s double team is a weak point for the Indian mixed team and Tressa Jolly/ Gayatri Gopichand lost 18-21, 17-21 to Thinaah Muralitharan/ Tan Koong Le Pearly.
