The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET), administered by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), is an assessment that every candidate must pass if they wish to teach in a Central Govt School in India. The CTET has been taken successfully twenty times as of this writing, with the next exam scheduled for February 2026. This will be the 21st year of CTET being administered as a national-level qualification.
CTET Papers Explained: Paper 1 vs Paper 2
CTET has two separate papers corresponding to the teaching levels that candidates wish to apply for. CTET Paper I is intended for candidates who would like to be teachers from Class I - V, and being able to qualify for that type of teacher is for Primary Teacher. CTET Paper II is for candidates who would like to teach Class VI - Class VIII and be able to qualify for that type of teacher as an Elementary Teacher.
