Citroen has revealed its Citroen ELO Concept, an experimental electric car, which is aimed at reinventing urban movement. Continuing the futuristic ideas introduced by Citroen OLI concept in 2022, the ELO demonstrates the commitment of the brand to creativity, functionality, and user well-being.
ELO Concept will be introduced at the world premiere at the Brussels Motor Show on January 9, with a new vision of how compact electric cars can be used to provide maximum space, comfort and flexibility to suit modern lifestyles.

The clever use of space is one of the largest emphasises of the Citroen ELO Concept. The ELO is short by the standards of compact hatchbacks in the market with a length of 4.10 metres. However, it can manage up to six passengers, which is due to its electrically designed platform.
The standard layout has four seats, with a central seat of the driver that opens up to a panoramic view of 180 degrees. This unusual design allows not only to improve the situational awareness but also create a feel of a futuristic cockpit, which the cabin gives.
For added practicality, two foldable seats can be put in place when required and that increases the seating capacity to six. This layout is particularly beneficial for families, urban commuters and individuals who often travel in groups. The approach of Citroen shows that EV platforms can be customized to provide large and highly customizable interiors despite their small footprint.
Citroen ELO Concept Interior

Designed as a “mobility space” instead of a conventional car, the Citroen ELO Concept interior can transform according to the requirements of the user. The seat of the driver is able to turn 360 degrees transforming the cabin at once into a social lounge or mobile workspace.
For longer breaks or overnight stays, the ELO provides a two-person sleeping setup designed with inflatable mattresses made using the Decathlon Dropstitch material, a lightweight, durable fabric that is commonly applied in outdoor gear. It can be transformed into a real multi-purpose mobility hub with only a few changes as the ELO can easily switch between driving mode, entertainment mode, lounge mode, Office mode or camping mode.
This versatility is key to Citroen’s vision of future vehicles, where the interior serves as an extension of the living space of the user instead of just transportation.
Citroen ELO Concept Features and Practical Additions

The Citroen ELO Concept is developed by using the strategic partnerships with partners such as Goodyear and Decathlon to incorporate practical and innovative aspects into the vehicle.
Goodyear distributes Eagle Xplore tyres fitted with SightLine technology, which allows monitoring of the tyre pressure, temperature, and wear in real-time and drives safer and more efficiently. Decathlon brings its material expertise, which incorporates outdoor-oriented design and functionality in the cabin.
According to Citroen, the ELO is a “tiny house on wheels,” and its functionality and features do not contradict the notion. There have also been some recent additions such as:
- Underfloor air compressor for inflating tyres, sports gear or mattresses.
- Vehicle-to-load (V2L) power, which enables the EV to run external devices such as speakers or grills.
- Door-mounted hooks for attaching an awning, which turns the car into a shaded outdoor hub.
- These features render the ELO perfect in leisure, traveling, camping and daily use.
Citroen ELO Concept with Next-Gen Display Technology
Citroen develops the Smartband display technology introduced with the 2022 OLI with the ELO Concept. ELO has flat-panel screens reflected onto a clear sheet that has a reflective film instead of a conventional screen. The result is a futuristic, floating visual effect over the windshield, which is very similar to a head-up display but far more cost-effective and less distracting.
There is also the debut of the single-spoke steering wheel that is of a double-flat design, which is inspired by the legendary Citroen DS from 1955. It gives a large visibility window for the floating display without being uncomfortable. The steering wheel has two joystick-like controls that provide an instinctive control of in-car functions to facilitate a calm, friendly environment in the cabin.
