We all must have asked for gifts from Santa Claus on Christmas and also have been the part of carols at least once in our lives. I mean, who doesn’t love to group together and enjoy singing carols with our close ones and then exchange gifts with each other, it surely is one of our favorite memories to wait for Santa Claus to arrive and participating in carol singing.

Although Christmas is not just about carols, Santa Claus and gifts, it is far more than that. The festival of Christmas is celebrated to honor the birth of the one who has been the savior for humanity. He is none other than the Son of God, that is Jesus Christ.

The Magical Story of Christmas

Christmas

There was an Angel Gabriel who visited the virgin Mary to inform that the Holy Spirit will conceive the Son of God in her and he should be named Jesus. Upon hearing this news, Mary along with her husband Joseph, were living in Nazareth but they had to travel to the ancestral town of Jesus, that is Bethlehem. So they travelled there and unfortunately they had no place to live, because of this she gave birth in a stable to Jesus on 25th December, 4 BC.

After his birth, firstly, some angels announced to shepherds that the Son of God is born, then a group of wise men followed a shining star to find the child-form of the Son of God to gift him gold, frankincense and myrrh. Gold represented the kingship of Jesus, frankincense represented the divinity of Jesus and myrrh represented the suffering and burial of Jesus. His birth not just brought fortunes to Mary and Joseph but also to the whole community of believers of Christianity as well as humanity.

Consequently, Jesus was renamed as “Jesus Christ” since Christ is a Greek word, which literally meant the Messiah, the reason being of this is that Jesus was the Messiah of Christianity and the savior of humanity so he was called to be the “Jesus Christ” which signified the “Messiah of Christianity.” He was not a simple human being, rather he was the divine Son of God, and to celebrate his birth and in his remembrance, since 4 BC till now, every day on 25th December the festival of Christmas is commemorated as the celebration of his birth.
