China has been practicing birth control for a while now, it seems the government’s practices and people’s cooperation have finally paid off. The most recent data shows China’s population at around 1,411,750,000 (1.4 billion) by the end of 2022. According to the reports, the population figure has declined by 850,000 since last year’s total.

This is a remarkable status that the country might keep up to make its population under control. China’s Population has finally slowed down after more than 60 years. The country has conducted various social campaigns to alert people about the negative impact of the population increase. All the hard work finally pays off as the country’s population finally dips to a significant figure.

The graph above shows that the rise and fall in China’s population in last six decades since 1950. The population figure has seen a rise of over 1 billion people in past 60 years. The figure indicates the failure in country’s attempt of controlling the population.

India might Overtake China

After the recent fall in China’s population, India might replace it to become the world’s most populated country. Population of India is currently at around 1,428,627,663, a 0.81% increase from 2022. The percentage increase in India’s population is huge when compared to China.

China’s birth rate was 6.77 per 1000 people, whereas India had a birth rate of 17.163 births per 1000 people. The figure difference is gigantic and so will be its aftershock.
