Bhutan’s Sonam Yeshey Creates History: The game of cricket is gradually spreading across the world. More cricket matches are being played now, leading to new records being set and broken regularly. A T20 International cricket match was played between Bhutan and Myanmar, in which the Bhutan team won by 82 runs. Bhutan batted first and scored a total of 127 runs. Myanmar's team was then all out for just 45 runs. Sonam Yeshey bowled brilliantly for Bhutan, taking a total of 8 wickets in the match.

Sonam Yeshey (Who is Sonam Yeshey?) set a world record for taking the most wickets in a single T20 International match. He took 8 wickets for just 7 runs against Myanmar. In this way, Sonam claimed the record for the most wickets taken in a T20I match. Before him, Syazrul Idrus (7 wickets for 8 runs against China for Malaysia in 2023) and Ali Dawood (7 wickets for 19 runs against Bhutan for Bahrain in 2025) had taken 7 wickets each.

The 22-year-old Sonam Yeshey took 8 wickets for just 7 runs in his four overs in the T20Imatch against Myanmar. He conceded only 7 runs in his spell. His bowling proved very difficult for the Myanmar batsmen to handle. He has become the player with the most wickets in a T20 International match and has set a new world record.

Before Sonam Yeshey, only two bowlers had taken 7 wickets each in men's T20 International matches. Syazrul Idrus of Malaysia took 7 wickets in a T20I match against China in 2023. Ali Dawood of Bahrain also took 7 wickets in a T20I match against Bhutan. Now, Sonam has surpassed these two bowlers with his outstanding performance.

Namgang Chejay scores a half-century for Bhutan

Namgang Chejay played a good innings for the Bhutan team in the match. He scored a total of 50 runs off 45 balls with the help of 5 fours and one six. Later, Namgay Thinley contributed 27 runs off 22 balls. Tashi Dorji scored 17 runs. Thanks to these players, the Bhutan team managed to score 127 runs in the stipulated 20 overs.

Only two Myanmar batsmen reached double figures

Later, no batsman performed well for Myanmar, and the entire team was all out for just 45 runs. For the Myanmar team, Htet Lin Oo scored 12 runs and Pyae Phyo Wai scored 10 runs. Apart from these two players, the remaining batsmen could not reach double figures. The Myanmar batsmen could not cope with Sonam Yeshey's bowling.

Sonam Yeshey is a 22-year-old Bhutanese cricketer known for his left-arm orthodox spin bowling. He was born on December 3, 2003, and represents his country in the T20 format. Sonam has taken a total of 37 wickets in 34 T20I matches so far, with his best performance being 8 wickets in a single match.
