Widespread unrest was witnessed in Bangladesh late last night. Protesters unleashed violence in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, setting fire to several buildings and vehicles. Violence erupted once again in Bangladesh late last night. A large number of protesters targeted several buildings and engaged in widespread vandalism. This unrest followed the death of Sharif Usman Hadi, a spokesperson for the Inqilab Manch.
During the unrest, the mob also attacked the offices of The Daily Star newspaper in Dhaka's Kawran Bazar. The mob set the office on fire, trapping people working inside. However, more than four hours after the attack on the newspaper office, at least 30 journalists were rescued from the building.

According to a report by news agency ANI, the first attack was on the Bengali-language daily Prothom Alo, where the mob chanted slogans. According to BD News, the mob vandalized the office around midnight and then set it on fire. The Daily Star journalists were rescued around 4 AM on Friday morning.
It is reported that the attackers first vandalized the ground and first floors of the newspaper office and then set it on fire around 12:30 AM. BD News reported that the fire quickly spread to two floors, creating a large plume of smoke. Newspaper reporters said that the fire service could not reach the scene due to the large crowd, which blocked access to the building.
Zaima Islam, a reporter for the newspaper trapped inside the building, said, "I can't breathe now. There is too much smoke. I am inside. You are killing me."
Interim government chief appeals for peace

This arson and unrest followed an appeal by Bangladesh'sChief Adviser Muhammad Yunus to citizens to maintain peace in the country and allow law enforcement agencies to conduct investigations professionally. He said that the government is committed to upholding the rule of law and advancing democratic progress. Earlier in the day, addressing the nation, Yunus said, "I sincerely appeal to all citizens of the country to maintain patience and restraint. Let the law enforcement agencies and concerned institutions conduct their investigations professionally. The state is fully committed to establishing the rule of law."
