The Kawasaki W800 has been hinted for India as part of the W-series 60th Anniversary celebration. Right now, Kawasaki only sells the W175 in India. But that might change soon.
Kawasaki W800 Engine & Performance

The W800 is powered by a 773cc air-cooled parallel twin engine.
51.3 bhp
62.9 Nm torque
5-speed gearbox
This isn’t a high-revving sportbike. It’s a relaxed, old-school cruiser with proper retro character. If you like classic motorcycles with real engine feel, this one fits the bill.
Design: Proper Retro, Not Fake Retro

Chrome fuel tank
Spoked wheels
Twin exhaust pipes
Long flat seat
Upright riding position
Modern touches include:
LED headlight
Assist & slipper clutch
Dual disc brakes
Dual-channel ABS
Twin rear shock absorbers
It looks vintage. But rides modern. That balance matters.
What About the Kawasaki W230?

Kawasaki had earlier teased the W230 too.
233cc single cylinder engine
17 hp
19 Nm
6-speed gearbox
It’s smaller. More beginner friendly. But not in the same league as the W800. The W800 feels premium. The W230 feels practical. Different buyers. Different budgets.
Why Kawasaki Needs the W800 in India
- The retro market in India is dominated by Royal Enfield.
- Interceptor 650.
- Continental GT 650.
- Super Meteor 650.
- But the 800cc retro space? Almost empty.
- That’s where Kawasaki can enter.
- Also, the W175 didn’t perform strongly.
- So expanding the lineup makes sense.
- More power. More presence. More appeal.
Expected Price and Launch
- No official pricing yet.
- But expect it to sit in the premium range. Likely above ₹8 lakh (ex-showroom).
- If Kawasaki wants serious volume, pricing will be key.
- Because retro buyers care about value.
The teaser confirms one thing: Kawasaki is serious about its retro game in India. If launched, the W800 won’t just be another bike. It will be a statement. Now the only question is pricing. Because in India, even legends need the right price tag.
