Apple may include a few new emojis in its next iOS version for the iPhone. The Unicode Consortium has released a list of draft emojis that may be included in the upcoming iOS 27 update, according to Emojipedia.

These 9 New Emojis Will Make Everyone Crazy

Nine new emoji concepts and ten more skin tone modifiers have reportedly been proposed by the Unicode Emoji Standard & Research Working Group.

Among the suggested emojis are:

1. A happy face with narrowed eyes
2. A thumb gesture to the left
3. A thumb gesture to the right
4. A monarch butterfly
5. A pickle
6. A lighthouse
7. A meteor
8. An eraser to remove pencil marks on paper; a handle-equipped net

Apple and Google Both Will Launch Their Own Versions

Currently, all of these new emojis are draft candidates for Unicode Emoji 18.0. Following that, firms such as Apple and Google will create their own emoji versions and incorporate them into their next software upgrades.

Nevertheless, Unicode Emoji 17.0, which has emojis like Shovel, Fingerprint, and Beet, among others, has not yet been adopted by Apple. The company's iOS 26.4 update is anticipated to release these emojis in March or April.

These Emojis are Expected To Come In Late March This Year

The new emojis suggested under Unicode Emoji 18.0 might appear with the iOS 27.4 update in March if this schedule is adhered to.The final version typically comes in September along with the most recent iPhone, but Apple's next major software upgrade is anticipated to be revealed at the company's WWDC 26 event later in the year. In the meantime, it is anticipated that the iPhone 17e, which may be released in the next months, would come pre-installed with iOS 26.

Apple's New Features With New Updates

The yearly additions do not feel as important as they used to because there are so many emojis already on the keyboard. Nevertheless, with iOS 18,Apple introduced the Genmoji feature, which allows users to create their own emojis as part of the company's AI feature set, known as Apple Intelligence. However, these functions are only available on more recent iPhone models that enable Apple Intelligence, beginning with the iPhone 15 Pro.

About iOS 27

There is currently little information available about iOS 27. But last year, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg had projected that the update will be a Snow Leopard-style release, drawing inspiration from the 2009 Mac OS X Snow Leopard.
