Yesterday’s semi-final match between the Ivory Coast and the Democratic Republic took everyone at awe as the match was highly gripping till the end.

The host nation will now play its final match on Sunday with Nigeria. The Ivory Coast sacked their coach during the group stages, the two-time champions are the second host nation who reach the final of the tournament after Egypt in 2006.

Ivory Coast’s performance in the stage matches is highly turbulent during the stage group match, they are on the brink of elimination at the final group match. The new interim coach Emerse Fae tried to level up their performance as the team sacked the former coach Jean-Louis Gasset because of his embarrassing performance.

The Ivory Coast who was last in their group match, won against the top-seeded Senegal in the penalty.

The Ivory Coast was not getting a chance for a good shot till the interval. Sebastian gave a free header wide before Frank Kessie, who struck the post with a low shot from the right edge of the area.

In a very tight affair in the last 65 minutes, Sebastian hit at the goalpost before looping into the net.

Democratic Congo worked hard for the come back but they didn’t get a chance and they bid a harsh farewell as they were trying to win the title after 1974.

The Ivory Team saw a lot of Drama as they moved toward the semi-finals. They were placed in the fifth position out of six in their pool, and only the top two will qualify for the quarter-finals.

They saw a miracle when they came back that saw Ghana capitulate in stoppage time, but suddenly there was a reprieve.

There have been moments of tension when they were defeated by Guniea in a 4-0 knockout. But destiny plays an important role for Ivory, hope they’ll win the Sunday final.
