Own Production House: Bollywood celebrities have careers outside of acting. such as product recommendations, advertising, launching their own business, and the list goes on. While many famous people choose to direct their films, several also choose to produce them. To execute it, though, requires a lot of effort and responsibility. Therefore, let’s take a look at some actors who have gone above and beyond to start their own production company.
Kangana Ranaut(Own Production House)
On May 1, 2021, Kangana officially launched Manikarnika Films, her production company. She won’t, however, take on any acting roles in the films she makes because she prefers to support emerging artists. Kangana also revealed her first venture into the digital world, Tiku Weds Sheru.
Priyanka Chopra
Priyanka, a current international celebrity from Bollywood, established Purple Pebble Pictures in 2015 as a film and television production company. They have produced films with her mother Dr. Madhu Chopra in several other languages, including Marathi, Bengali, Punjabi, and Bhojpuri. Her production company’s Ventilator Marathi comedy-drama took home three national honors in 2016. In addition, she produced The Sky Is Pink, in which she also had a prominent role.
Anushka Sharma
In October 2013, Anushka and her brother Karnesh established Clean Slate Films. Her production company has a reputation in films and on other OTT platforms. She firmly believes in creating progressive material, such as the OTT series Paatal Lok and Bulbbul as well as Pari, NH10, and Phillauri.
Madhuri Dixit
In 2011, Madhuri and her husband Dr. Nene established their production company, RnM Moving Pictures. For a global initiative, she worked with Priyanka Chopra’s Purple Pebble Pictures. Additionally, Madhuri produced the Marathi film 15th August and Bucket List, both of which are streamable on Netflix.
Deepika Padukone
Deepika, no doubt, has given us many hits like Om Shanti Om, Ram Leela, Bajirao Mastani. She launched her production house KA Entertainment in 2018, along with KA Enterprises LLP, an investment firm spearheaded by Deepika Padukone. It was a planned move, as in 2015, during an interview with PTI she said, “I want to venture into production and be a producer or line producer someday because I feel I have that kind of personality”. She produced Chhapaak which was a huge hit and also starred her in a leading role.
Does the production company own the film?
Well, generally it’s the production house that owns the rights to a movie. However, a film can also be financed by an individual or a separate studio, in which case, these entities would own the rights to that movie. Many times, the studio outsources the work to another production house based on a contract.
