Hindi Diwas

India celebrates its National Hindi Day on this day. The Constitution recognized September 14th as National Hindi Day. September 14, 1949, is a significant day in Indian history. On this day, the Constituent Assembly accepted Hindi as the official language of India. This decision was not easy. At that time, the country was full of linguistic diversity, and there was a heated debate on the matter. However, Hindi was chosen because it was the most widely spoken and understood language. It was the language of the common people. To commemorate the history of this day, National Hindi Diwas has been celebrated every year on September 14th since 1953.

The objectives of this day are:

  • To promote the use of Hindi in government work.
  • To make Hindi the primary language of administration and education.
  • To strengthen linguistic self-reliance.
  • This day is a day to ensure that Hindi is respected in the Constitution.
