World Heritage Day is an international day for historical monuments and sites. It is celebrated on April 18 every year in order to honour the legacy of our people. 1. Taj Mahal, Agra

Taj Mahal is the most beautiful and precious monument in India. It is built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in 1631. The palace is fully made of marble and looks very charming at full moon knight. It is also one of the seven wonders of the world. So, it is the top-most heritage site in India.

How to reach: Tourists can easily reach Agra by train buses or by road. There are two railway stations named Agra Fort railway station and Agra Cantt. But Agra Fort is the nearest to the Taj Mahal.

Sun Temple of Konark is one of the most unique architectures in India. Its curved wheels and geometrical patterns serve as sundials. Every one of them can witness the three images of Sun God in the three directions that catch the rays of the Sun at dawn, noon, and sunset.

How to reach: Get to Puri railway station by train. It is 30 km away from Konark Sun Temple. You can book a direct taxi from the railway station.

3. Khajuraho Group of Monuments, Chhatarpur

Located in the Chhatarpur district of mid-India state, Madhya Pradesh, the Khajuraho Group of Monuments contains some of the best historical monuments to celebrate World Heritage Day. Historical records note that this site had 85 temples in the 12 century, out of which, only 25 temples have survived. 

The place is spread over six-kilometre squares. It means you are going to explore too many things here.

How to reach: As it is connected through various routes, you can easily get to Mahoba, the nearest railway station to the Kujraho monuments. From here you can get a taxi or bus.

4. Red Fort, Delhi

Red Fort is popularly known as “Lal Qila” is India’s most valued historical site in India. It is another monument built by Shah Jahan when he decided to shift his capital from Agra to Dehli. This site also carries some other political importance. Every year the Prime Minister of India hoists the flag on Independence and Republic Day here.

How to reach: Furkating railway station is only 80 km from the Kaziranga National Park. You can get there by taxi or bus.
