Why Skin Cancer is The Most Common Form of Cancer?

One out of every 5 people suffer from Skin Cancer. According to the studies, it is said that it is the most common form of cancer. It happens due to the irregular growth of skin cells. And can be treated if identified on time.

The development of this type of cancer is due to the uncontrollable growth of new skin cells in the body. Usually the process of generation of new skin cells take place. But the process gets hindered by the growth of abnormal cells.

This can be treated with medications. But if the symptoms are neglected, it can cause serious skin issues. And this collection of cells may be cancerous which will ultimately harm the other tissues of the body.

Another reason for the irregular growth of skin cells can also be due to exposure to Ultraviolet (UV) rays.

Types of Skin Cancer

Basal cell carcinoma

The process of new cells getting replaced by old skin cells is done with the help of Basal cells. And this turns into a carcinoma when the uneven process takes place. And this affects the outermost part pf the epidermis . Skin rashes and redness in the skin are early symptoms to this disease.

Squamous cell cancer

Formation of cancer lumps takes place in this type of skin cancer. Squamous cells are generally found in lungs and mucous membranes. This type of cancer is known as the 2nd most common type of skin cancer.  Areas that are exposed to sun are more likely to develop this type of cancer.

Melanoma

This  is more dangerous than the other two types. As they arise from the Melanocytes, cells that give skin colour. However, they can be treated when detected early. They are generally formed on the chest and leg areas of the body.

Merkel Cell skin cancer

It is the rare form of skin cancer caused by the irregular generation of Merkel cells. It has dangerous effects as it spreads in the body very quickly.

Symptoms of skin cancer

When skin lumps or rashes are found in any part of the body that is not cured naturally, it maybe a sign to skin cancer. These unusual changes should be noticed and should be diagnosed. These lumps can also be cancer lumps and should be treated on time.

Other symptoms of skin cancer includes:

  • Smooth and waxy Bump on any part of the skin .
  • A mole having depression in the middle that bleeds.
  • Change in the color of the skin.

Treatments for skin cancer

The treatment differs from the type to the part of the skin.

Cryosurgery: The process where the effected part is frozen using a liquid nitrogen.

Radiation: Energy beams are used to kill the cancer cells.

Immunotherapy: Stimulation of immune system to kill the cancer cells.

Chemotherapy: Needle or intravenous are injected to kill the cancer cells.

Skin cancer is the most common yet the most threatening form of cancer. This is why regular body checkup is crucial which can help detect any sort of skin and body related issues. Proper treatment at right moment is required to avoid the skin cancer.
