Method of worship
Get up before sunrise on the day of Makar Sankranti. At this time, start the day by saluting the Sun God. Clean the house. Also purify the house by sprinkling Ganga water. After dealing with daily tasks, if possible, take a bath in the Ganges or a holy river. If not, take a bath with water containing Ganga water.
Now purify yourself by drinking water and wear yellow clothes. After this, offer water to the Sun God and take sesame seeds in your hand and flow it in the flowing stream of water. Now worship the Sun God with the Panchopchar method. Recite Surya Chalisa during the puja. Finally perform aarti and conclude the puja. Donate food after the puja. Sadhaks can perform tarpan and pinddaan for their ancestors.
