Explaining the reason behind this massive outrage, Facebook said in its statement that a faulty configuration was responsible for it. The configuration was so complicated that it took more than 6 hours for the company to resolve it. Furthermore, internal systems and tools were also affected by it that delayed the process.

And since Instagram and Whatsapp are owned by Facebook, it troubled their users as well. The only platform not to be affected was YouTube.

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg informed the users on social media a few hours ago about the issue with a post. He said “ Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp, and messenger are coming back online now. Sorry for the disruption today.”

He further added that users don’t have to worry about their data as the faulty configuration did not affect any.

This was not the first time users have gone through such technical inconvenience. Earlier in 2019, users were unable to access the online platform which lasted 14 hours.
