Who is Tulsi Gabbard?

Tulsi Gabbard is a veteran who spent more than 20 years in the United States military, but she has no particular experience in the intelligence sector. From 2013 to 2021, she represented the Democratic Party as a congresswoman for the second district of Hawaii.

Tulsi Gabbard has over twenty years of Army National Guard experience, having deployed to Kuwait and Iraq. She was also a member of the House Homeland Security Committee for two years.

Does she have an Indian Ancestry?

Despite having no Indian ancestry, Tulsi Gabbard is frequently confused for an Indian due to her first name. After converting to Hinduism, Gabbard’s mother gave all of her children Hindu names.

Tulsi Gabbard, the first Hindu congresswoman in the United States, also identifies as Hindu. Despite being of American Samoan heritage, Tulsi’s hand was on the Bhagavad Gita when she took the oath of office.

Blaming her own party for not opposing wars, Gabbard ran against Kamala Harris for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020. She later withdrew from the race and eventually quit the party in 2022, claiming that it was controlled by “woke” ideologues and an “elitist cabal of warmongers.”

Gabbard is married to cinematographer Abraham Williams. Her father, Mike Gabbard, is a state senator who was first elected as a Republican but who switched parties to become a Democrat.
