According to the reports of the Russian news agency, this syndrome is related to the respiratory syndrome MERS-COV that had affected the Middle East in 2012 and 2015. Previously, NeoCoV was found in South African bats and used to spread among animals. It is very dangerous as it kills one in every three infected bats.

Recently, new cases of this virus are found in China. Its tendency is found somehow similar to the SARS-CoV-2 and researchers are studying whether it is harmful to humans or not as it is for animals.

The whole study about NeoCov is published on the bioRxiv website.

There is one more report that came up from Russian State Virology and Biotechnology Research Center. The study found that the current vaccination may not be effective against NeoCoV. This virus differently ties with the ACE2 receptor than SARS-CoV-2.
