What Are the Charges Against JKLF Chief Yasin Mailk

The judicial system of India proved that justice can get late but not dark in the case of JKLF chief Yasin Malik. On Wednesday, a Delhi court announced a life term in jail for the accused of the offenses mentioned under UAPA. Along with the imprisonment, a fine of Rs 10 Lakhs is also applied.

Malik was arrested by National Investigation Agency in 2019 for causing harm to the peace of Kashmir Valley through terrorists and secessionist activities. However, he was active for a long and was arrested several times. Know all the charges made against Yasin Malik.

What were the Charges against Yasin Malik?

NIA arrested Malik for collecting funds within and from outside India to support terrorist activities in the Kashmir valley. Mass protests, stone pelting, organizing strikes, and even burning of schools are a few crimes against which he was charged.

Along with Malik, NIA charged a file against the founders of the terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba. Hafiz Saeed and chief of Syed Salahuddin Hizbul Mujahideen were the names who were also charged with terror funding and conspiracy activities in J&K.

Two separatists – Shabir Shah and Aisya Andrabi were also under arrest by NIA in 2019.

1990 Attack

Yasin Malik was also charged for killing 4IAF personnel and attacking 40 of them in 1990. He is booked as per the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act, Ranbir Penal Code, and the Arms Act 1959.

The Kidnapping of Rubaiyya Sayeedjklf chief yasin malik and rubaiya sayeed

JKLF chief Yasin Malik along with the members of his separatist group kidnapped the daughter of the then Home Minister of India. Rubaiya Sayeed was kidnapped in exchange for his 5 members- Mushtaq Ahmed Zargar, Noor Muhammad Kalwal, Ghulam Nabi Butt, Muhammed Atlaf, and Sheikh Abdul Hameed.

His demand was accepted by the then CM Farooq Abdullah and Mailk freed Rubaiya after 2 hours of the release of his members.

Apart from these charges against Yasin Malik, he was also arrested in 1999 under the Public Safety Act. Three years later, he was again detained under the Prevention of Terrorism Act.
