What is the UGC Bill? UGC Bill was officially implemented on 13 Jan 2026.

This Bill is a significant initiative aimed at preventing harassment and discrimination against students in universities and colleges.

This law aims to prevent caste-based discrimination against SCs, STs, OBCs, women, persons with disabilities, and minorities.

With this objective, the UGC implemented this law in 2026 to ensure a safe and equitable environment in educational institutions.

Under this regulation, provisions have been made for a 24×7 helpline, an online grievance redressal portal, and mandatory action within a fixed time frame.

UGC headquarters is located in New Delhi, and it consists of a Chairperson, a Vice-Chairperson, and ten other members appointed by the Central Government.
